We stock a wide variety of mixer / recorders to suit any senario you may have out in the field, on-set or even at home! These products include audio recorders & mixers, fader panels, preamps and portable mixers.
Mixer / Recorders come in different sizes and configurations, from small handheld devices with a one or two channels, to sound bag-sized larger units with dozens of channels and some pretty advanced features.
These products are designed to be portable and easy to use, allowing sound professionals to capture and mix high-quality audio recordings on location with ease. They often include features such as timecode functionality, auto-mixing, 32bit float, and advanced routing options to provide maximum flexibility and control.
We offer a variety of different types of microphones, each with it's own unique characteristics and uses.
Shotgun microphones are commonly used for capturing dialogue, mounted on a boom-pole or a camera, while lavalier microphones are often used for their discreet size, making them great for hiding on talent, while still providing fantastic vocal clarity. Handheld microphones are useful for live performances and interviews, while boundary microphones can capture sound in larger spaces, such as conference rooms or in-car conversations.
Various microphone accessories can help with the environmental and acoustic issues while on location. We provide a wide array of wind protection and microphone suspensions to eliminate unwanted noise, allowing sound professionals to capture clear and quality audio that is critical to the success of any production.
Consumables are widely used in the film and TV industry, and are often overlooked, but are crucial for ensuring the smooth running of productions and the delivery of high-quality audio. Consumables are key items to minimise dialog replacement in post-production.
Tapes and adhesives are used to secure microphones and cables to actors and equipment. Straps and pouches to comfortably and safely mount wireless transmitters, while stickies provide a secure, invisible attachment for lavalier microphones. Noise dampening products help to reduce unwanted set noise such as footsteps, while cleaning and sanitation products keep equipment clean and hygienic. Finally, lavalier mounting and wind reduction solutions are used to minimize wind noise and keep lavalier microphones securely in place, and hidden.
Timecode solutions are a way to stay in sync. These products include timecode generators, sync boxes, slates, receivers, and purpose made cables that interface these products between cameras, wireless systems and recorders / mixers.
Timecode is a signal that assigns a unique time reference to each frame of video and audio, allowing for precise synchronization during post-production.
Timecode generators and slates are often used at the beginning of each take to ensure that all devices are in sync, while timecode receivers allow for wireless synchronisation of devices. Timecode equipment is also useful for post-production workflows, where it is used to synchronise footage from multiple cameras and audio recordings.
We stock a wide variety of powering solutions that are essential to the sound department for the film and TV industry. These products include rechargeable batteries, battery chargers, power supplies, and power distribution systems.
Soundies rely on these products to power their equipment, such as wireless systems, portable recorders, and mixers. High-quality batteries and power management systems ensure that sound professionals have a consistent and reliable power source throughout long shoots, allowing them to capture clear and uninterrupted audio.
With advancements in technology, many products in this category are now lighter and longer-lasting and even more environmentally friendly, thanks to higher capacity and rechargeable batteries.
MicPlexer 3 is a RF filter and amplifier offering enhanced frequency coverage, a 50 MHz tuning window, continuous 2 MHz step tuning, variable output level control, and RF overload indicators.
MicPlexer 3 features a completely overhauled bandpass filter that’s continuously tuneable, providing excellent RF rejection while preventing RF overload from walkie-talkies and mobile devices that can cause intermodulation in the distribution amplifier, ruining the performance of a connected receiver.
The bandpass window has been designed to be as narrow as possible yet wide enough to support a variety of productions, including film, television, and sports.
MicPlexer 3 provides 2 x 1 into 4 output RF paths for the distribution of a diversity antenna system.
This graphic above shows the passband of MicPlexer 3. The user-adjustable passband filter is centred at 550 MHz and provides approximately 50 MHz of bandwidth with extremely low loss. Signals outside that window are sharply attenuated.
As you can see in the graph, when the bandpass is centred at 550 MHz, signals at 460 MHz (where UHF walkie-talkies operate) are attenuated by as much as -36 dB.
By adjusting the bandpass filter continuously across the spectrum, the user can decide not just what their wireless system is receiving, but also what it attenuates. It is this attenuation characteristic that makes MicPlexer 3 a welcome tool in a sound mixer’s kit, helping to eliminate interference that might affect uninterrupted operation of your wireless system.
Simple specifications, like a frequency range, may not be as helpful in understanding how much attenuation can be expected in terms of interfering signals. The real worth of a filter is in its overall curve and attenuation figures.
Knowing the shape of the bandpass for any product will help in making an educated decision when designing a wireless system with robust performance and frequency agility.
MicPlexer 3 is continuously tuneable from 470–665 MHz and 745–965 MHz.
A small portion of the spectrum, 660 MHz to 720 MHz, is not included, as only specially licensed mobile devices are allowed to use this portion.
MicPlexer 3 features a continuously adjustable 50 MHz tuning window. For example, if the MicPlexer 3 is tuned to 550 MHz, the unit will pass RF information between 525 MHz and 575 MHz, and sharply attenuate RF information outside that window.
The steep attenuation of this filter allows for unrivalled flexibility in frequency selection and prevents interference and overloading from unwanted signals.
MicPlexer 3 is continuously unable across its spectrum in 2 MHz frequency steps, giving the user a high degree of flexibility when choosing available spectrum for use.
It is the MicPlexer 3’s tuning accuracy and customisation that makes it preferable to distribution products with SAW filters. Its sharp bandpass rejection and adjustability also make it superior to products with fixed high-pass filters.
MicPlexer 3 has an excellent amplifier, with a noise figure of 0.35 dB and an OIP3 of +34 dB. The device can handle any high-RF environment, adding protection through its high-Q RF filtering.
SMA antennas are used on both inputs, making it simple to bypass the MicPlexer 3.
MicPlexer 3 supports two amplification channels with four outputs. Outputs are user-adjustable:
MicPlexer 3 has an overload LED indicator for each antenna input. If the unit determines that the received RF signal is too strong, the LED will indicate an overload condition.
